What's special about us

CVICU is the national centre for ECMO (VA and VV) as well as for heart and lung transplants.  We primarily care for patients after cardiac, vascular and thoracic surgery and also for sick cardiology patients. We are accredited for general ICU training and provide excellent exposure to the sub-specialty of cardiothoracic intensive care. We have the highest number of ICU admissions and ventilation hours in New Zealand and have a variety of positions available from SHO through to Registrar and Fellow level. CVICU is also good place to gain exposure to both transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography.

How to get here

We are on the 4th floor of the main building "building 32".  We are right at the end and make a left turn to get to reception.  Tell the receptionists that you are here for ICU teaching.  Parking (even paid parking) is very limited.  If possible we would recommend public transport.
